The watercolours of Enrique Breccia display a complete mastery of the technique. His use of colour is classic, the surface impeccable, the layers of pigment unfolding in a manner which is wholly original, while light is used to perfection, lending form to his creations. These are not simply images, but visions which portray a world of his making, with a coherence which derives from the style, the colour, and a ‘language’ which is severe and essential, technically rigorous in searching out both the tonal and and the graphic values. The art of Enrique Breccia reflects a natural evolution of the human spirit. It aims at what is most elevated: the desire and the hunger to create art and culture in a bonding which is as essential as it is unconscious.
